Aspire Academy’s Multi-Sport Skills Development Centre (MSSD) at GES has reappointed Captain Kevin (Head Coach) along with Captain Khalid and coaches from Qatar Athletics Federation.
The MSSD program is a selective academy for boys who are gifted and talented in sport. Boys can be selected from any school in the locality. The selection is based on their results in a range of performance tests, their skills, attitude to training and mental toughness. The main objective of the centre is to develop these boys in order to give them the chance to win a scholarship to the full-time school at Aspire Academy. Last year, two boys from GES received a scholarship to the Academy, making the School one of Aspire’s most successful centres.
“We will continue to evaluate the boys at GES and hope to find more who meet the criteria to join the Aspire MSSD Centre. We currently have a number of boys trialing at the centre and they will soon find out if they made it into the program. We wish them luck in their tests next week… we’re aiming to increase the number of boys in this program by at least 30% this year,” cited PE teacher.
The SOP develops and promotes fitness and a healthy lifestyle by organizing multisport competitions among the schools of Qatar with students ranging from 5 to 18 years of age.
