What is MUN at GES?

Led by a group of 4 students, along with our MUN Director, MUN meets weekly in the library to hone essential skills, receive training and simulate conferences. We then send our most promising delegates to conferences around Qatar, such as the prestigious THIMUN by Qatar Foundation, as well as looking for opportunities abroad for our young diplomats.

MUN is a fascinating experience to get involved with new knowledge being developed, a passion for social justice forged and mastery of transdisciplinary skills being strived for.

This year promises to be even more exciting at GES MUN as we work towards hosting our own conference in April 2025.

Please take the time to read a statement from our Secretary General and MUN President, Dana, on why MUN is so important from a student perspective:

I am dedicated to leading the club in a way that cultivates inclusivity and growth. My goal is to ensure that each member feels empowered to contribute and gain confidence in their abilities. In addition, I am excited to be organizing the schools first ever MUN conference this year, a milestone for our school that will allow us to host other schools and elevate the MUN experience at GES.

As president of GES MUN

our MUN club provides a unique platform for students to engage with global issues, debate real- world topics, and sharpen essential skills like public speaking, critical thinking and leadership. Meeting weekly, the club encourages active participation and offers students the chance to attend national and international conferences, where they collaborate with peers, simulate diplomatic discussions, and experiences the complexities of diplomacy firsthand. It’s a highly interactive and rewarding environment, designed to push students beyond the classroom.
