The Gulf English Infants School hosted a ‘Fitness Week’ during the same week as Qatar Sports Day. Children spent the week taking part in activities like bouncy castle slide, sack race and obstacle race, among others.
“During our annual Fitness Week, the children had opportunities to try different sports and learn how to have a healthy lifestyle. We really enjoy hosting the fitness week because the children are always super excited to be taking part in activities which are a little different from their normal PE lessons. They had fun taking part in lots of activities,”
The first day witnessed every class taking part in a bouncy castle slide competition to see how many times they could go up and down the inflatable slide during their slot. It was a competitive affair and every class who took part managed to do at least 150 slides.s
On the second day, Year 1 and 2 students had their annual Sports Day. This was held on the astro turf pitches of the secondary school, which was a nice experience for everyone. The students took part in a selection of races including flat race, sack race, obstacle race as well as egg and spoon race. They particularly enjoyed the fact that their older brothers, sisters or cousins were able to watch them and cheer them on.
The students of Pre-School and Reception had their Sports Day during the third day, where they competed against each other in seven different activities and races. It was held on the grass and playground in the Infants School.
The school celebrated the end of Fitness Week by having a 'Finals Day' on the grass area in Infants school. Several students cheered on their classmates to win the races and ultimately become the Champion Class of the Year! The winners were from Pre-School - Pre School Green, Reception - RMS, Year 1 - 1MC and Year 2 - 2MC.
